Feb 2: Pyrtle Panther Winter Games!

This year we've put a new twist on Fun Night and transformed it into the 2018 Pyrtle Panther Winter Games and it's going to be awesome! The event will feature Waffleman Bill, games, a basket raffle and an auction. To make it a success we need LOTS of parent volunteers. All families are invited to attend and volunteer. There are 4 main areas to choose from:

Please sign up for a shift! The links will take you to our Konstella sign up page. If you're not a Konstella user, but still want to help, click here (this is where LPS middle and high school students can sign up). All volunteers are required to complete an LPS Level II Volunteer Application Form BEFORE January 15th.

Cultiva Coffee Holiday Fundraiser

Pyrtle PTO has partnered with Cultiva Coffee to sell their signature whole bean coffee, loose leaf tea and gift cards to their East Campus location (well known for their crepes).

For every dollar sold by Pyrtle families, Cultiva will generously give us 48 cents back.

Your support of Pyrtle Elementary allows our PTO to purchase materials and services to help enhance each student's experience at Pyrtle and support our staff. Here are some of the ways Pyrtle PTO uses the money that is raised:

  • field trip transportation so that every student can take a field trip
  • a classroom allocation that teachers use to buy things like subscriptions to popular apps, clay for the art program, student planners, etc.
  • a sketch book for each student to build a portfolio of work from 2nd-5th grade
  • weekly prizes for students who earn "Pawsitive Notes"
  • the ice cream social during Curriculum Night
  • 4 staff meals per year during conferences
  • classroom Valentine's Day parties
  • a potential indoor climbing wall

Your support is tremendously appreciated by Pyrtle students, their parents and our staff. Thank you!

Hour of Code and Fitness Tracker Design Classes

We have two new opportunities for your students to experience STEM in new ways. Hour of Code is an annual event to help expose students (and adults) across the country to the excitement of computer coding. Pyrtle will be offering 2 opportunities for students in all ages on Dec. 7: computer coding or Dash robot sequencing. Sign up online.

One week earlier, Nov. 30, Pyrtle will be hosting a 2-hour class for students to create their own fitness tracker. They will work in groups of 5 for this unique opportunity to use a kit to develop a working fitness tracker. Kids are welcome (and encouraged) to do both. The teams will have a chance to present their creation the next week following Hour of Code. Pizza provided. Cost is $7.50. Sign up & pay online.
